I Am Dina (2002) is a powerful historical drama starring Maria Bonnevie, Gérard Depardieu, Christopher Eccleston and Mads Mikkelsen.

Set in 19th-century Norway, the film tells the extraordinary story of Dina, a passionate and independent young woman whose life is shaped by a tragic childhood accident.

After accidentally causing her mother's death, Dina grows up burdened by guilt and emotional isolation. Her father struggles to understand her, leaving Dina to develop a fierce and rebellious personality.

As she grows older, Dina refuses to conform to society's expectations of women. Her passionate nature and determination to live life on her own terms lead her into complicated relationships, forbidden desires and difficult choices.

Through love, loss and personal tragedy, Dina searches for freedom, happiness and a sense of belonging.

Based on the acclaimed novel Dina's Book by Norwegian author Herbjørg Wassmo, the film explores themes of love, guilt, independence and the struggle for personal freedom.

Featuring breathtaking Scandinavian scenery, atmospheric cinematography and powerful performances, I Am Dina is an emotional and visually striking drama.

With an international cast including Gérard Depardieu, Christopher Eccleston and Mads Mikkelsen, this ambitious European production offers a memorable cinematic experience.

A wonderful addition for collectors of European cinema, historical dramas and independent films from the early 2000s.
