The Yards is a gripping American crime thriller starring Mark Wahlberg, Joaquin Phoenix, Charlize Theron and James Caan, directed by James Gray.

After serving time in prison, Leo Handler returns to his family in Queens, New York, hoping to leave his troubled past behind and start a new life.

His uncle Frank offers him an opportunity to work in the city's railway industry, but Leo soon discovers that the business is deeply connected to corruption, political influence and organised crime.

When Leo becomes involved with his childhood friend Willie, he is drawn into a dangerous world of sabotage, betrayal and murder.

As the situation spirals out of control, Leo must decide where his loyalties lie while uncovering secrets that threaten to destroy his family.

Featuring powerful performances and a dark, atmospheric portrayal of New York's criminal underworld, The Yards explores themes of family loyalty, corruption, betrayal and redemption.

A compelling addition for collectors of crime thrillers, independent cinema and early-2000s films.
