🦁 Discover an extraordinary true story of courage, compassion and resistance during World War II in The Zookeeper's Wife!

Set in Poland during the Second World War, The Zookeeper's Wife tells the remarkable story of Antonina Żabińska (Jessica Chastain) and her husband Jan (Johan Heldenbergh), who manage the beautiful Warsaw Zoo.

Before the outbreak of war, the couple lives a peaceful life surrounded by animals, caring for their family and the creatures entrusted to them.

But when Nazi Germany invades Poland in 1939, their world is shattered. The zoo is heavily damaged during the bombing of Warsaw, and many of its animals are killed or taken away.

As the Nazi occupation intensifies and Jewish citizens face increasing persecution, Antonina and Jan make an extraordinary decision.

Risking their own lives and the safety of their family, they secretly begin helping Jewish people escape from the Warsaw Ghetto, hiding them in the abandoned animal enclosures and underground passages of the zoo.

With German officers frequently visiting the property, including zoologist Lutz Heck (Daniel Brühl), every moment becomes a dangerous test of courage and deception.

As the war continues, Antonina and Jan must use their intelligence, compassion and determination to protect the innocent people depending on them.

Filled with emotional moments, powerful performances and an inspiring message about humanity, The Zookeeper's Wife tells an unforgettable story of bravery in one of history's darkest periods.

🕊️ Based on an Extraordinary True Story

During the Nazi occupation of Poland, the couple helped shelter and rescue hundreds of Jewish people, using the Warsaw Zoo as a hiding place.

Their extraordinary courage and humanitarian efforts were later recognised by Yad Vashem, which honoured Antonina and Jan as Righteous Among the Nations.

Their story remains a powerful example of compassion, resistance and the importance of protecting human life during times of persecution.
